The Inhlanyelo Hub is Proudly Supported by UNISA
We have a range of co-working spaces available within our premises.
We work with other organisations to assist its members seeking to raise funding.
The Inhlanyelo Hub seeks to encourage, grow, and support
entrepreneurship and self-employment amongst UNISA students, academics, staff,
and alumni by leveraging the UNISA ecosystem to connect them to business
support, market opportunities and funding.
Reflecting on 2023, the Inhlanyelo Hub marks a year of foundational achievements and significant growth. Officially registered on March 30, the Hub’s establishment at the Sunnyside Campus represents not just the creation of a new physical space, but also a strengthened partnership with the University of South Africa (UNISA). This year saw the appointment of independent members to the board of directors, the adoption of key policies, and the structuring of the Hub, signalling a robust framework for future initiatives.
Despite facing challenges, such as the departure of a key member of our staff, the Hub’s team, enriched by the experiences of Dr Tapiwa Muzata, Prof. Annemarie Davis, Ms. Nomsa Nkabinde, Ms. Oageng Mokoka-Nalwamondo, and Ms Thembeka Ntuli-Mpapama, has shown great resilience and dedication. Ms Ntuli-Mpapama has particularly contributed to the Hub’s visibility in our marketing and communication efforts. Noteworthy achievements include the selection of Inhlanyelo Hub for the Economic Activation Office (EAO) in collaboration with Universities South Africa and the Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) Programme. This initiative aims to centralize entrepreneurship efforts at UNISA.
The Drone Divas Programme stands out, empowering women in the drone industry, with the first cohort already achieving significant successes. Additionally, the launch of the Design Thinking and Deep Tech Deep Science Programme underscores the Hub’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
Looking forward, 2024 promises further advancements. In anticipation of the certification of the inaugural Drone Divas cohort, the Hub is set to continue its successful programs, fostering a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem. Building upon the collective efforts of 2023, which laid a solid foundation, the team is eager to expand the Hub’s impact and unlock its full potential in the coming year.
